When I provide telehealth therapy in California, my services take place on a video call platform, SecureVideo. This is sometimes called Telehealth or Telemedicine.
I was a reluctant adopter of telehealth. I had never done it before the pandemic forced all therapy online in 2020. The evidence in my practice is clear, though. I not only remain effective online, but my services have continued to improve on Zoom. I’ve noticed I’m focusing more on my clients’ facial expressions and vocal tones than I did before. I suspect this makes up for what I can’t see.
When we talk to determine whether my services are a good fit for your needs, I will describe this process. You will need:
During our first phone call, I will explain how to join the first video call. Usually, this is no problem for my clients. If you already know how to use Zoom, then you’ll probably have no trouble connecting for sessions with me.
The SecureVideo platform is HIPAA-compliant (that is, it is secure enough to legally provide medical services), and I have the appropriate agreements in place with the company to protect your privacy (a Business Associate Agreement). If you have questions about the security of SecureVideo, you can view their white paper at this link.
If you’re considering telehealth therapy in California, contact me today and we’ll make sure my services are a good fit for your needs.
