I am most effective at helping when providing individual therapy for:
- Sexual Issues – Click the link for more details
- Relationship Issues – infidelity recovery, emotion regulation, improving communication, deciding to leave or stay, dating, or breaking patterns
- Anxiety and Panic – I help you face your fears
- OCD – I help you learn to address the fact that your mind is lying to you
- Trauma – Grounding techniques for trigger regulation and narrative reprocessing to reduce triggers.
- Depression – We help you move even though you don’t feel like it, and examine your negative beliefs, especially about yourself.
When individual therapy needs to focus on symptom relief, I often take the following approach:
- Empathetic witnessing of symptomatic behaviors, speech, and thoughts;
- Developing behaviors, thoughts, and speech that eliminate or help you cope with symptoms;
- We work together to find out what is triggering those symptoms, decrease the symptoms, and increase your indicators of mental health outside of the sessions.
- Finally, we focus on creating a plan to manage and/or prevent your symptoms for the long term.
Not all clients come to individual therapy for symptom relief, though. Relationship quality is an important factor in overall well-being. Working to improve the quality of your platonic, romantic, familial, and professional relationships is also a way therapy with me may help you feel better.
